Everything you need to know about working with an online therapist for millennial moms in California.
About working with me
Do you offer online therapy for millennial moms in California?
Yes. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT #122458) providing secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy to millennial moms anywhere in California — including Redding, Chico, Red Bluff, Sacramento, Tehama County, and beyond.
What kinds of struggles do you help with?
I specialize in supporting millennial moms through emotional overwhelm and burnout, anxiety, the mental load of motherhood, identity loss and life transitions, and relationship disconnection after kids — the "roommate phase" many couples find themselves in once kids enter the picture.
You can read more on the Anxiety & Burnout, Relationship Disconnection, and Identity & Transitions pages.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Research consistently shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety, burnout, and relationship issues. For busy moms, virtual sessions also remove the barriers of commuting, childcare, and rushed schedules — making it easier to actually show up consistently, which is one of the biggest predictors of progress in therapy.
Can I work with you if I live outside of California?
Due to licensure laws, I can only provide therapy to clients who are physically located in California at the time of session.
What if I'm not sure which type of support is right for me?
That's completely okay. Most clients start with weekly individual therapy, while others are drawn to a more focused, intensive format. A free consultation is a great place to talk through what's going on and decide together what makes the most sense for your goals and schedule.
Cost & insurance
Do you accept insurance?
I do not participate in insurance networks — I'm considered an out-of-network provider. Many clients choose private pay for the added privacy, flexibility, and depth of care it allows.
How much will I pay using out-of-network benefits?
If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company will typically reimburse 60–80% of the cost of each session after you've met your deductible.
Use this calculator for an instant estimate of your OON coverage, or I'm happy to check your benefits for you on our free intro call (have your insurance card and Member ID handy).
You can also call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage, and can I use it for telehealth?
- What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met this year?
- Do I need a referral from an in-network provider?
- What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions is covered (CPT code 90834)?
- How do I submit claims, and how long does reimbursement take?
How do I actually use my OON benefits?
You have two options:
- I partner with Thrizer, which can submit claims to your insurance on your behalf for a small fee. After your deductible is met, you can pay in full and receive reimbursement via direct deposit, or pay your co-insurance and let Thrizer cover the rest while it awaits reimbursement.
- Or, I can provide a monthly superbill you submit yourself for reimbursement — you'd pay in full at the time of each session.
We can talk through these options in more detail on your intro call.
What if I can't afford your rate? Do you offer a sliding scale?
I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots, but all spots are currently full. If you're not sure you can afford my full fee, please reach out — if I'm unable to offer a sliding scale spot, I'm happy to provide referrals to trusted clinicians, including Psychology Today if you're looking for an in-network provider.
Getting started
What if I'm not sure we're a good fit?
Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 15-minute intro call with all potential new clients. On the call, I'll ask why you're seeking therapy, share a bit about my approach, answer your questions, and we'll talk through rates, availability, and next steps.
So we're a good fit — what's next?
We'll schedule your first appointment. I'll send a couple of quick forms to complete beforehand, along with a link for our weekly video sessions.
What's the first therapy session like?
The first session is a chance for us to slow down and get oriented together. I'll ask questions to understand what's bringing you in, what's been weighing on you, and what support would feel most helpful — there's no pressure to share everything at once.
My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and grounded in helping you understand what's happening beneath the overwhelm. Together, we'll begin clarifying your goals for therapy.
How often will we meet?
I meet with most clients weekly, and ask that all new clients commit to weekly sessions for at least the first 6 weeks. This helps us start off on a strong foot so you can begin seeing progress right away. From there, we may adjust the frequency to best meet your needs.
Ready to take the
next step for you?

Your out-of-network benefits are usually pretty straightforward to use. We have two options:
I partner with a company, Thrizer, who can submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf for a small fee. After you’ve met your deductible, you can decide whether or not you want to pay for the session in full, and receive reimbursement from your insurance company via direct deposit. Or you can simply pay your co-insurance and Thrizer can cover the rest of the cost for you, while they wait for reimbursement from your insurance company.
Or if you prefer to deal with your insurance company yourself, I will provide you with a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment.
We can discuss these options in more detail on an intro call and see what works best for you!
